SAN MARCOS — Sm officials meet to discuss new school

City Council and trustees confer on mutual projects

In a first-of-its-kind joint meeting, elected city and school officials this weekMonday shared updates on issues of mutual interest, including a proposed new K-8 school near Cal State San Marcos.

No formal vote was taken on any issue Monday at the public meeting. All City Council members and San Marcos Unified trustees attended.

“We’ve been having a lot of conversations about the K-8 school, and as part of those we realized that we have several projects … that require us to work together,” school board President Randy Walton said. “We thought it might be beneficial to have some of those discussions together in the same room, for the public. I’m pleased with how it went.”
