The City of San Marcos Crime Prevention Unit is hosting two events as part of National Night Out. Both events will be held on Tuesday, August 4. The first will take place at the Boys and Girls Club of San Marcos, 1 Positive Place, from 2:30 to 6 pm. The other will be at San Elijo Hills Park, 1105 Elfin Forest Road, from 5 to 7 pm,

Both events will feature free hot dogs, child finger printing, a talking patrol car and a fire engine display, neighborhood watch info and more! Participants in the Boys and Girls Club event, however, must be pre-registered.

National Night Out is a unique crime/drug prevention event that involves citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 15,000 communities from all 50 states.

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
