The Belgian Waffle Ride sprung from Michael Marckx’s desire to build a Belgian-style cycling classic in North County San Diego. The event blends road racing tactics with jarring off-road sections that are a test for all riders. This year 2,800 riders will pass through San Elijo Hills and summit Double Peak and finish at The Lost Abbey Brewery in San Marcos on May 3rd, 2020. Belgian Waffle Ride is expanding from its original San Marcos location to include events in Asheville, North Carolina and, Cedar City, Utah for, 2020.
