Sheriff Press release regarding yesterday’s fatal accident near Chevron:

SYNOPSIS:

On October 3rd , 2017, at approximately 4:48 p.m., Deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s San Marcos Station, Traffic Division responded to a vehicle versus a pedestrian collision in the 1700 block of San Elijo Road. Based on the preliminary investigation it was determined a vehicle was entering the number one lane of southbound San Elijo Road from a nearby business when it struck a female pedestrian who was in the roadway at the time. The female sustained life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment where she later succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the vehicle sustained no injuries and remained on scene. Impairment of alcohol and/or drugs is still under investigation. The cause of the collision is currently under investigation. Motorists can expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes while public safety crews work to clear the incident.
