Summer concert series returns to San Marcos

Beginning Saturday, July 21, the City of San Marcos will present its 17th annual “Summer Concerts in the Gardens” series at the Wood House, 1148 Rock Springs Road.

A variety of bands will provide music appropriate for all ages during the summer months. All concerts will begin at 7:30 pm. Guests are encouraged to bring low back beach chairs or blankets for picnic seating; parking is free. In addition to traditional desserts and non-alcoholic beverages for purchase, a different food truck will also be selling food at each concert.

Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at the San Marcos Community Center. Prices are $6 presale, $8 at the door. Children under 12 years are free. Season passes are now available for $15.

Pirate Party in the Park (San Elijo Hills Residents ONLY): Saturday, July 26th

Shiver me timbers and batten down the hatches! San Elijo Hills is excited to invite all our mateys to come celebrate spring with us pirate-style on Saturday, July 26th at Hilltop field of San Elijo Park from 2:00PM-5:00PM. Activities include:

Pirate craft station
Lawn games
Treasure Hunt
Obstacle course and bounce house
Concessions including popcorn and cotton candy
And more fun surprises!

The kids are sure to have a great time at this event! We hope to see you there!

Movie Under the Stars: Part 3: Friday, August 8th

The San Elijo Hills Community Association is hosting a FREE showing of The Lego Movie (rated PG) as part of our summer movie series!

“The LEGO Movie is a 3D animated film which follows lead character, Emmet, a completely ordinary LEGO mini-figure who is identified as the most “extraordinary person” and the key to saving the Lego universe. Emmet and his friends go on an epic journey to stop the evil tyrant, Lord Business.”

The movie will be shown on Friday, August 8th at the lower softball field of San Elijo Park. Pre-show activities (including bounce houses, a sticky wall and more!) will begin at 6:00PM and the movie will start at sunset (around 8:00PM). Remember to bring your low-back beach chairs and blankets for lawn seating! A few awesome food trucks will be there and will have a variety of refreshments available for purchase.

Please note the following to ensure that we may continue to be allowed to use the sports fields for our events:

-No dogs are allowed on the field (with the exception of service dogs).
-All trash must be picked up and disposed of in the provided receptacles.
-There this no alcohol or glass containers permitted.
-Please do not park in the designated “Caretaker Parking” spots.

Concert in the Hills: Saturday, August 9th

The San Elijo Hills Community Association is joining with the City of San Marcos to present a free concert with “The Reflexx”, an 80’s New Wave Tribute band. The concert will be held at the lower softball field of San Elijo Park on Saturday, August 9th from 4:00PM-7:00PM.

This dance party for all ages will feature a variety of food trucks selling their specialties as well as some awesome inflatables for the kids to enjoy!

No glass or alcohol is permitted in the park. Beach chairs or blankets are recommended for lawn seating. For further information call (760) 798-9015 or email ccruz@waltersmanagement.com.

Canvas Painting in the Park: Sunday, August 10th

Are you looking for a fun activity to do with your kids before they head back to school? Or, are you interested in learning a new artistic talent? If so, we have the perfect event for you! A Colorful Universe in conjunction with the HOA is inviting our residents to come out and enjoy a class of painting your very own canvas in the park! The 90 minute class will be held on Sunday, August 10th at 3:00PM in the Town Square. All ages and all ability levels are welcome! The cost to participate is $10.00/person.

This is a great opportunity to let your inner artist shine and the whole family can participate! Space is limited so make sure to call A Colorful Universe at (760) 761–0476 to reserve your spot! You won’t want to miss out!

HOA Reminder

Please do not burn wood in outdoor fire pits or barbeques. Not only is this activity prohibited in the HOA’s Rules & Regulations, but it is also a fire danger. Please burn natural gas only. Thank you!

Lounge-o-Rama is coming to San Elijo Hills to put on a fun and exciting concert for our residents! Get ready to dance on Saturday, August 24th from 4:00PM-7:00PM in the Town Square! The six-piece band will be performing a variety of music featuring songs from the last 100 years! They are sure to put on a great show for all ages!
Remember to bring a low-back lawn chair or blankets to sit on.

The San Elijo Hills Foundation will be bringing in some food trucks to the event so make sure you stop by to purchase some dinner or a snack, if you choose! There are sure to be some tasty options!

San Elijo Hills Movie Under the Stars- Part 3: Friday, August 16th

The San Elijo Hills Community Association is hosting a FREE showing of DreamWorks Animation’s Rise of the Guardians as part of our summer movie series!

The movie tells a story about Guardians Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny, and the Sandman, who enlist Jack Frost to stop Pitch Black from engulfing the world in darkness. It features the voices of Chris Pine (Jack Frost), Alec Baldwin (Santa Claus), Hugh Jackman (the Easter Bunny), Isla Fisher (the Tooth Fairy) and Jude Law (Pitch).

HOA Board Meeting RESCHEDULED: Thursday, August 29th

The next Board of Directors meeting will be held on Thursday, August 29th at 6:00PM at the San Elijo Middle School multi-purpose room (please note the change in location). All homeowners are welcome to attend.

San Elijo Hills Community Garage Sale: Saturday, September 7th

It’s time to decide what you can live without! Pull out your price stickers because the San Elijo Hills Community Association is sponsoring a community-wide garage sale. All residents are welcome to participate in this FREE event! The garage sale will be held on Saturday, September 7th from 7:00AM-11:00AM. The garage sale will be promoted to the public so expect many shoppers! Directional signage will be placed out the morning of the sale to direct garage-salers to the individual neighborhoods. Do you only have a few items to sell? Join up with your neighbors to create one mega-sale!

Please note, there will be NO MAPS distributed indicating which individuals homes are participating. Please feel free to add additional signage in the community after 8:00PM the night before (Friday 9/6/13) so long as it is removed promptly after the event.

Jazz in the Town Square

Come on out to the Town Square on Saturday, May 4th, from 5:00PM-7:00PM, and enjoy a relaxing evening of jazz with your friends and neighbors.  The Danny Green Jazz Group will be delighting  with a diverse selection of music including both covers and originals.

We encourage you to pack a picnic dinner or grab some food to-go from one of our local establishments right here in the San Elijo Hills Town Center, and enjoy dinner while sweet tunes fill “The Hills”.

Don’t forget to also bring a low-back lawn chair or blanket to sit on. A good time is sure to be had by all!

San Elijo Park Playground Upgrades

Work on the playground equipment replacement at San Elijo Park will begin on May 6th.  It may be closed up to a month and includes removal of the existing set, site prep, installation of the new set and construction of the sandbox.  The City of San Marcos Public Works Department and the playground contractor will move as quickly as possible to minimize the down time. Come out to the San Elijo Hills Town Square on Saturday, May 4th, from 5:00PM-7:00PM, and enjoy jazz with your friends and neighbors. The Danny Green Jazz Group will be delighting our residents with a diverse selection of music including both covers and originals. Don’t forget to also bring a low-back lawn chair or blanket to sit on. Buy Local and grab your picnic from local San Elijo Hills Town Center merchants.

Concert in the Town Square this Saturday

Join us this Saturday, August 11th, in the San Elijo Hills Town Square for some dancing, food and fun from 3-6pm. The Mighty Untouchables will perform a free concert open to everyone and will play an assortment of music, including Classic Rock, Pop, Motown, Latin, Country and more.

 

Food trucks will be there to provide food and beverages for purchase.

 

For those interested in shopping, the Therapie boutique truck will be parked in the Square offering trendy fashions and other fun retail items.

Don’t forget to bring low-back lawn chairs, blankets, sunscreen and cash for the trucks. Due to the sports fields being used in San Elijo Park, we ask that you refrain from parking in those lots. Residents are encouraged to carpool, walk or park at the San Elijo Middle School.

Smokestaxx to perform at “Jammin’ Through the Decades” concert in San Marcos

The City of San Marcos invites residents to an outdoor concert with the band Smokestaxx at the Wood House Gardens in Woodland Park, 1148 Rock Springs Road, on Friday, June 15 at 7:30 pm. Smokestaxx is a high-energy dance band specializing in classic soul, rock and R&B.

Guests should bring beach chairs or blankets for lawn seating. Desserts and beverages will be available for purchase. Tickets may be purchased at the door or in advance at the San Marcos Community Center, 3 Civic Center Drive. Tickets are $6 in advance; $8 at the door; and $3 for children aged three to 12. Children under three are free. Season passes for three concerts are now available for $15. Parking is free
