The Lost Abbey has signed a lease on the former Stoked Café

NEWS from The Lost Abbey-Some of you have heard the news. The Lost Abbey has signed a lease on the former Stoked Café space with the intention of operating a satellite tasting room and events space. As residents of Old Creek Ranch, we love the community of San Elijo and can’t believe this space has become available.

The Lost Abbey was co-founded by my husband and his partners back in 2006. For some of you, this may be the first time that you have heard of us and if so, we are excited about the chance to meet and catch up over a beer or two.

We’re a little brewery with a big reputation but we pride ourselves on being great partners both here with our locals in San Marcos as well as our neighbors to the West (Cardiff by the Sea) where we operate another satellite tasting room called “The Confessional.”
As we’re currently in the planning phases, we don’t have a ton of details to share with you. But we wanted to make sure that we opened up an avenue for communication. If you have any questions, concerns or just want to say heck yeah can’t wait for you to open, we’d love to hear from you. Maureen Callahan Arthur

Your Community Needs You to Speak Up about Powerlines

Hopefully, you’ve all taken a moment to review the email we sent out early this week and the embedded links about the large electrical transmission lines that have been slated to be constructed throughout our community.

Hopefully, you’ve all scheduled your sitters, blocked your calendars, and are making carpool arrangements with your neighbors.

Hopefully, you’ve signed up on the Google Form to commit to showing up for your community on April 30th.

While we wait for the 30th to approach, we need you to make your comment personal. Review the attached talking points and develop your comments, your story, and find your voice.  Once you have your comments prepared consider sharing them on the 30th. You don’t have to speak at the hearings, headcount is most important, but reading your comments/story aloud at the meeting will help us in our show of force and makes the biggest impact.  A judge who will preside over the final decision will be in attendance, so your voices will be heard, and what you say matters.

Neighbor credited with saving woman’s life

By Pat Sherman of Today’s Local News

Thursday, August 14, 2008

A San Marcos resident who occasionally helps his neighbor solve computer problems came to her aid again Sunday night — this time saving more than her hard drive.

Chuck, who asked that his last name not be used, was watching television with his wife, Alexandra, at their home in the 1800 block of Shadetree Drive when he heard screams and the sound of glass breaking outside.

“She was screaming out, ‘Help!’ ” Chuck said of his neighbor, Kendra Beebe. “We (called out), ‘Is everything OK, Kendra?’ and she said, ‘No, call for help! Please help!’ ”

Seconds later, Chuck arrived on Beebe’s porch, stopping a knife-wielding attacker’s assault on her.

The suspect has been identified as 43-year-old comedic actor Shelley Malil, Beebe’s estranged boyfriend. Malil appeared in the film “40-Year-Old Virgin” and in television shows such as “Scrubs,” “Reba” and “NYPD Blue.”

At press time Tuesday, Malil was being held in county jail on attempted murder charges and $2 million bail. Beebe was in critical but stable condition at Palomar Medical Center.

Eve Salony, who lives across the street from Beebe, heard the commotion as she stepped out of the shower. She thought her neighbors were goofing around.

“I wasn’t differentiating what she was saying,” said Salony, adding that one neighbor told her the victim was saying, “He’s killing me.”

By the time Salony put on her bathrobe and went outside, an ambulance, police and paramedics had arrived. Police were carrying the victim’s two young children, wrapped in blankets, to Chuck and Alexandra’s house. The oldest, about 4, had woken to hear her mother’s screams, Salony said.

Beebe and Malil were together earlier in the day at the LA Fitness in San Marcos, according to Salony, where the victim introduced Malil to Salony’s friend. The couple appeared to be having a good time, she said.

According to Salony, Beebe was having dinner in the backyard with a date when the suspect returned and found them together. click here to read the entire Todays Local News Article
