SDG&E Update – 3 Days Left – Thursday Morning Call-in

SDG&E Update – 3 Days Left – Thursday Morning Call-in

This Thursday, September 24 beginning at 10:00 a.m. the CPUC Commissioners will again hold their public comment period before casting their vote on SDG&E’s proposed project.  Our goal is to get 100 people to call in sometime during the morning to make them aware of how much we want them to consider other options by conducting an EIR before approving this project OR immediately approve placing these lines underground.  Help us reach that goal, mark it on your calendar and make sure to tell at least one neighbor and share with your social network.   The call-in number is:

1-800-857-1917, passcode: 9899501 – once in the system you must press *1 to get into the queue to speak

(If you called in previously, you cannot speak again.  However, others from your household can speak and you can also help by finding a neighbor who will call in.)

We encourage everyone to call and voice their concerns and share any personal stories, but we are also looking for people who are available from 9:30 until 10:30 to 11 ish, to help us in presenting to the Commissioners an ‘organized’ presentation.  If you are available and interested in this chance to help, please email Robert Pack at packrobert@gmail.com for more information.

You can call in anytime starting at 9:50 all the way until the public comment period ends.  If you are busy around 10:00 a.m., try calling in whenever you are free, hopefully the call in period will last until at least 1 or 2 p.m. (or beyond).  The public comment period ends when there are no more callers waiting to speak in the queue, so the longer the comment period stays open the better.

Let’s not miss what will probably be our last opportunity to make our voices heard.

As always if you need more information and ideas for talking points visit our website at sanmarcospowerlines.com or email Robert Pack at packrobert@gmail.com.

SDG&E Power Line Committee

CPUC – SDG&E San Marcos to Escondido Powerline Update

Pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has prepared a Final CEQA Document for consideration of San Diego Gas and Electric Company’s (SDG&E’s) application (A.17-11-010) to construct, operate, and maintain the San Marcos to Escondido Tie Line (TL) 6975 69kV Project (Project). The Final CEQA Document provides details regarding the agency and public review of the Project’s Draft IS/MND, including a review process summary, a list of commenters, comments received, CPUC’s responses to comments, any resulting text revisions to the Draft IS/MND, and the final Mitigation Monitoring and Compliance Reporting Plan.

Description of the Project.

The Project is located in the cities of Carlsbad, Escondido, Vista, and San Marcos, as well as in unincorporated San Diego County. The Project includes a combination of new overhead single-circuit electric power line structures, rebuild of existing structures from single circuit to double circuit, and reconductoring and re-energizing of approximately 12 miles of a 69 kilovolt (kV) overhead electric power line from the existing San Marcos Substation to the existing Escondido Substation in San Diego County, California. The Project would require acquisition of 1.2 acres of new right-of-way (ROW) adjacent to existing ROW.

Availability of Final CEQA Document.

The Final CEQA Document will be available for viewing on the Project website no later than Friday, January 10, 2020:

http://www.cpuc.ca.gov/environment/info/esa/TL6975/index.html

This website will continue to be used to post all public documents during the environmental review process. Any questions or other communications regarding the Final CEQA Document will continue to be accepted by telephone at (619) 719-4207, or by e-mail at TL6975SanMarcos@esassoc.com.

Next Steps in the CPUC Review Process

The CPUC Administrative Law Judge has scheduled a Pre-Hearing Conference (PHC) on February 7, 2020. Parties to the proceeding (A. 17-11-010) have been notified by the CPUC docket office.
