Participants are limited to two bankers boxes (10″ x 12″ x 15″) per household. According to the Federal Trade Commission, identity theft strikes more than 10 million Americans per year and costs American businesses and consumers more than $53 billion per year — not to mention the serious financial and emotional hardships it leaves in its wake. Shredding sensitive documents with account numbers, birth dates, signatures, passwords and PIN numbers is a great step towards avoiding identity theft.
The event will be set up as a drive-thru and drop-off event. Participants will not be able to watch their documents being shredded. EDCO Recycling & Waste Collection is the contract trash hauler for the City of San Marcos.
